Project Update: Smedley Preserve Stream Project begins!
We're excited to share that mobilization for the Smedley Preserve MS4 sediment reduction stream project began this week! Over the next 2-3 weeks, construction crews will begin building out the project.
Timeline: Construction will continue for approximately 6-7 months.
Access: The Preserve will remain open to the public during this time.
Safety Reminder: Please avoid all designated construction zones for your safety and the safety of the construction crews and park staff.
About the Project:
This initiative is a collaborative effort between New Garden Township, PennDOT, and RES to reduce sediment pollution in the White Clay watershed. The project includes:
- Sediment removal and stream restoration
- Removal of most manmade ponds
- Restoration of natural habitats
- Support for native species and biodiversity
